PURGATORY News:
DURANGO, Colo. — Purgatory Resort is excited to extend ski season weekends into May this spring, thanks to significant snowfall and ideal temperatures – a feat accomplished only once before in the resort’s 58-year history.
“We’re making the most of this spectacular winter by skiing and riding our way into summer,” Dave Rathbun said, Purgatory’s General Manager. “When our region receives this much natural snowfall, you can bet we’re doing everything we can to stay open. It’s an opportunity to notch a few more days on this year’s pass or take advantage of bonus days for new passholders purchasing now for next season.”
Purgatory will remain open weekends May 6-7 and May 13-14 for Saturday and Sunday operations. Purgatory will be open for skiing in May for the second time in resort history, just five years after the epic winter of 2018/19. Resort officials will announce lift and trail offerings later this week. Purgatory received 376 inches – more than 31 feet – of snow this season, an amount recorded just three times since the Durango-area ski resort opened in 1965.
Purgatory Sports, Board Room and Expert Edge will remain open with modified operations, including demo rentals and retail. Rentals, retail and lifts will operate 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Bear Bar will serve food and beverages from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with live music to be announced. No beginner terrain or ski school lessons will be available.
Discounted lift tickets will be available starting at just $19 for adults (13+). 2022-23 Weekday, 2023-34 My Weekday, and all Hesperus season passholders are invited to use their passes on the remaining weekends in May. Kids 12 and younger receive a free Power Kids season pass valid every day for the remainder of this season and the 2023-24 season for unlimited skiing and biking.
This week marks last call to get the best deals on 2023-24 season passes, which includes bonus spring skiing this month. Skiers and riders can take advantage of the best prices on 2023-24 season pass products now through May 5. With “Buy Now, Ski Now,” 2023-24 passholders can start skiing now and enjoy bonus spring skiing at Purgatory.
