Since 1976, the Los Alamos Garden Club (LAGC) has awarded a scholarship to a Los Alamos High School (LAHS) senior. The Club is proud to announce this year’s recipient is Solenne Thelliez.

Thelliez is president of the LAHS Environmental Club and active in community environmental activities and athletics, both school and club.

For Earth Day this year, the Environmental Club organized a clothing drive and hosted a Thrift Sale for LAHS students. Proceeds from the sale will be used toward the construction of a greenhouse at LAHS.

Thelliez, whose gardening inspiration is her mother, plans to major in environmental design.

Through the years, the LAGC has funded its scholarship through the sale of handcrafted items, Christmas wreaths and most recently through their annual plant and yard sale. This year’s sale is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at 112 Longview Drive in White Rock.
