The Los Alamos High School girls soccer team netted two goals in the first half to beat a strong Aztec team 2-0 Saturday in a non-district game at home.

Laila Carter assisted Tara McDonald for the first Topper goal early in the first half. Late in the first half, MacKenzie Echave assisted Tara McDonald who beat the Tiger goalkeeper in the goal box.

The Toppers possession play was the difference in the game as they moved the ball well and were able to attack the Tiger’s goal throughout the afternoon.

Carter, Isabel Atencio, Jenna Montoya, Dayja Fellers and Gracie Haagenstad organized the midfield play that the visiting Tigers were unable to penetrate.

The defense, which was led by goalkeeper Mika Stanfield, Estella Remillieux, Carley Holland, Echave and Kaelin Hanson, allowed only three shots against the Topper net.

The Toppers continue district play next week on the road against Pojoaque and Moriarty.
