Daily Postcard: Hummingbirds Born In North Community

Daily Postcard: Hummingbird chicks born this spring rest in a nest their mama built on an outdoor light at a residence in North Community. These chicks are so young their feathers haven’t fully developed around their face and beak. Photo by Maureen Lunn

The hummingbird chicks slowly age and develop feathers over the course of a few weeks. Photo by Maureen Lunn

The young hummingbirds rest in their nest as their mama stays nearby and feeds them for several weeks, even as they got so big she could no longer stay in the nest with them. After a few weeks of building up their strength the young hummingbirds successfully left the nest. Photo by Maureen Lunn
