Roger Stutz
DNCU News:
Roger Stutz, retired physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and longtime resident of Los Alamos, whose lifelong association with not-for-profit financial cooperatives paved a path toward his important contributions to the success of Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), is being recognized for five decades of commitment to the longtime northern New Mexico financial mainstay and the wider Los Alamos community.
Stutz’s record of volunteerism in the field of New Mexico finance, and to DNCU specifically, is extensive and well-documented. His first contribution was as an associate member of the credit committee where he reviewed loan applications, later serving as an elected member of the credit committee, Chairman of the credit committee, and then member of the supervisory committee. He was later elected to the board of directors, serving in various committee roles, including Chairman of the board of directors and Supervisory Committee before returning to the Supervisory Committee where he currently serves as Chairman.
“Roger was instrumental in achieving important milestones, including opening a location in White Rock, various other offices, name and field of membership changes,” recalled Chuck Valenti, DNCU President/CEO. “When we opened our new office in White Rock, we named our community room the Stutz Best Community Room, dedicated to Roger Stutz and George Best, two individuals who have devoted much time and energy to the success of our organization.”
Despite his impressive activism in the financial realm, including his oversight of DNCU’s growth from $20 million to nearly $1 billion in overall assets, Stutz has successfully managed to pursue other interests. Stutz has served as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos, the longstanding international service club dedicated to community improvement. In addition, Stutz and his wife, Jacquie, are avid hikers, counting the nearby Chama and San Pedro Parks area as personal favorites in their extensive hiking portfolio that includes the Continental Divide Trail in New Mexico, Colorado and most of Wyoming.
