The Los Alamos County Golf Course has had a change in its schedule for the greens aerification for the month of June.
Because the putting green receives more traffic than any other playing surface, the aeration process helps relieve the compactions caused by the additional traffic. It also helps create a firm, smooth putting surface by controlling thatch and promoting healthy turf roots.
Typically, the golf course will aerate the greens one to three times a season.
Updated dates for aerification at the Golf Course:
- June 21-22 Ninja Tine Application on Greens
- June 21: tee times begin at 9:30 a.m., play begins at hole #10; and
- June 22: tee times begin at 9:30 a.m., play begins at hole #1.
- September Greens Aerification
- Sept. 14: course closed; and
- Sept. 15: 9 a.m. first tee time.
