Democratic Party of New Mexico Chair released the following statement regarding New Mexico’s updated congressional and legislative maps:

“Thanks to the principled work of our governor and state legislators, New Mexico is beginning the new year with legislative and congressional maps that reflect and honor the diversity of our state.

These maps create fair districts that bridge the urban-rural divide, include strong Hispanic and Native voices, and better represent communities throughout New Mexico.

“From the creation of the Citizens’ Redistricting Committee to the debate in the legislature, this has been a transparent and democratic process that has centered the voices of New Mexicans.

We are grateful for the tireless work that Democratic leaders such as Gov. Lujan Grisham, Speaker Egolf, Leader Wirth and President Pro Tem Stewart have put into making sure that New Mexico’s democracy is as representative as possible.”
