Los Alamos Triatomics Multisport Club News:
Dear White Rock Residents,
The Atomic Man Duathlon (run/bike/run) is taking place at 8 a.m. to approximately noon Saturday, Sept. 21.
The County has issued the organizers (Los Alamos Triatomics Multisport Club) a permit to close Grand Canyon Drive between Sherwood Boulevard and Canada Way. This closure will be in effect from about 7 a.m. (to allow for setup) to about noon or when the last racer comes through.
During this time residents of Balboa Drive and Alhambra Drive will have LIMITED ACCESS to Grand Canyon Drive. Volunteers will be on hand to guide local traffic in and out but drivers may have to wait until the racers clear the area.
An alternative is to park outside the closure area if they want to easily leave the race venue by vehicle. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and will try to address concerns of the neighborhood residents to the extent possible.
Additionally, there will be bike racers up and down Grand Canyon between Pinon Elementary School and N.M. 4 with traffic control officers stopping traffic to let the bicyclists through. Also, runners will be racing along Sherwood Boulevard, Piedra Loop and La Senda Drive. We request residents of all these neighborhoods to exercise extra caution while traveling on these streets or exiting from any side streets.
Note: Anyone interested in racing, today is the final day for online signups at (https:////www.newmexicosportsonline.com/events/details?id=67989). Paper registration can be done 4:30-6:30 p.m. today at Pinon Park or before 7:30 a.m. on race day Saturday.
