NMBC News:The 13th Annual New Mexico & Arizona Book Awards will be open for entries starting Friday, Jan. 25, 2019.
The Awards celebrate the best books published, authored, or about New Mexico and Arizona. The winners of the 2019 Best Books in the NM & AZ Book Awards were New Mexico Historical Chronology by Don Bullis, published by Rio Grande Books and Paul Pletka: Imagined Wests by Amy Scott and published by University of Oklahoma Press.
Over 1,000 books were entered in 56 categories: children’s, Young adult, cooking, travel, romance, art, sci-fi, novels, covers, business, anthropology, poetry, history, multi-cultural, comics/graphic novels, and much more. All books were donated to libraries and veterans programs after the judging process was over.
Books can be entered until July 1, 2019, though a discount is offered now on the entry fee. For more information and entry form, rules, and categories go to: nmbookcoop.com at book awards.
In addition, the Jan. 25, meeting of the NM Book Co-op will feature both “What We Have Learned From the 2018 Book Awards,” tips for entering, and Don Bullis about his Best Book and what it took to write it. Don Bullis’ book may be the largest (in pages) book published in New Mexico. The lunch is at the Golden Corral on San Mateo in Albuquerque and starts at noon. People come early to network and eat. All attending pay for their own lunch. Books can be brought to the lunch or mailed.
