EDUCATION News:

  • Community Event Features Interactive School Bus and XQ Project Applicants

Today the XQ: The Super School Bus will be in Los Alamos, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ashley Pond Park – its fourth stop on a multi-city national bus tour.

For the first time, XQ: The Super School Project is providing communities the tools to source innovative ideas from the community and take a community based approach to rethink and redesign high school from the ground up. The Super School Bus Tour is a continuation of efforts to engage and excite local communities around this effort and will serve as a mobile community hub for ideas, conversation and action around high school innovation.

The customized school bus is an interactive experience that invites students, parents, teachers and community members to explore innovative and effective solutions to improve high schools, and includes a recording booth for attendees to share their own ideas. The voices and ideas collected will be provided as a resource for applicant teams to refine their applications and as a starting point for communities across the country to begin to rethink high school in their own towns and neighborhoods.

The dynamic, school bus tour will feature activities for school builders, students, and community members, and opportunities to explore where high school education has been, as well as the themes that have emerged from the thousands of voices that XQ has collected since launching in September 2015.

The Los Alamos stop will be a chance to connect with and hear directly from New Mexico school builders about why they’ve engaged in the challenge and the innovative ideas they have for rethinking high school in New Mexico. This tour will honor and celebrate their ongoing commitment to preparing students for college, career, and life in the 21st Century.
