Photo by Chris Clark/ladailypost.comCB FOX co-owner Dave Fox arrived in Los Alamos July of 1979. He explained that his predecessor, Clement & Benner Department Store, was for sale and its relationship to the community was rock solid.
The large department store is at 1735 Central Ave., in the heart of downtown Los Alamos.
“Our uncommonly broad range of merchandise, plus non-stop dedication to creating more and more choice for Los Alamos, all selected with our Los Alamos-trained eye to fit the way we live, play, work, and travel, and for high-functionality, durability and lasting good looks for casual living, and we never forget special delights that frankly separate this store from nearly all others,” Fox said.
The store carries quality furniture at prices that beat the competition in Albuquerque and Santa Fe including brands such as Simply Amish, La-Z-Boy, Flexsteel, Omnia, Tempurpedic, Beautyrest, ComfortPedic & Kincaid, Fox said.
“You’ll find everything you need to transform your home into a place where you can entertain family and friends or relax and unwind. It’s our combination of tasteful design, quality furnishings, and value that truly set us apart!” he said.
“We also carry men’s, women’s and kidz clothes, footwear, gifts and jewelry, travel items, Los Alamos T-shirts and souveniers and Los Alamos history items and books.”
CB FOX has grown over the years and now employs 23 mostly full time employees, including nine buyers. Fox and “the girl he married, Anne” have worked at the store for 36 years. Their son Andy Fox began working at the store at age 13.
“The store is far bigger on the inside than it looks … 23,000 sq. ft. … big as half a football field … thus supports uncommon breadth of choice,” Fox said.
“We offer dedicated community support from CB FOX itself and personally from the Andy Fox family, and Dave Fox family.”
