Staff Report

Economic realities are forcing Council and County staff to look at the possibility of making some difficult decisions that may prove unpopular to some members of the community.

County Manager Harry Burgess led the conversation on the issue during today’s Council Retreat. He explained that there is a need to look at where some of the services may be cut. One suggestion is cutting back on some of the snow removal efforts when the Lab and schools close for the day.

Discussion surrounded the need for staff to cut back their budgets over last year and how they are wrestling to identify ways to accomplish that. Some potential options include cutting back by an hour the operations for some facilities.

Deputy County Administrator Steve Lynne said the important thing is really the quality of the service the County provides the citizens rather than the quantity of the service.
