COMMUNITY News:
Friday Night Dining, which offers fine dining for low-income senior citizens and the homeless in Española Valley and Santa Fe County, is looking for volunteers.
The organization serves 50 diners. It has two volunteer chefs that prepare the meals, but 19 volunteers are needed to work as waiters, bussers, kitchens helpers and dishwashers at each dinner.
The next dinners are June 26, July 31, Aug. 21 and Oct. 23. Meals are held at Valley View United Methodist Church on Spruce Street in Española. The food that is left is served to the homeless the next day.
Volunteer hours:
- Waiters work 4-6:45 p.m.
- Busers work 4-6:45 p.m.
- Kitchen helpers work 5-6:15 p.m. and 6:15-7:45 p.m.
All aprons and hairnets are provided. Volunteers are not fed because all the money raised goes toward food, music, flowers and cleaning products.
Volunteers must be older than 30. If interested in volunteering, contact Johnnie Mae de Schweinitz at 505.927.2636 or email at fndespanolanm@gmail.com.
