Free Community Cybersecurity Awareness Presentation In Los Alamos July 15

COMMUNITY News:

Residents, families, seniors, nonprofit organizations, churches, educators, and small business owners are invited to attend a free Community Cybersecurity Awareness Presentation, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Conference Center, 60 Entrada Drive.

This free educational event is being presented through a partnership between L Tech, Tech Share, and First United Methodist Church of Los Alamos. The goal of the event is to provide practical, real-world cybersecurity education that helps individuals and organizations better protect themselves from online threats.

As cybercrime continues to increase across the nation, individuals of all ages are facing growing risks from phishing attacks, identity theft, online scams, social engineering, account compromises, and financial fraud. This event has been created to help community members recognize these threats and learn practical steps they can take to improve their online safety.

Attendees will participate in presentations, demonstrations, interactive activities, educational games, and question-and-answer sessions covering topics such as:

  • Email and text message scam awareness
  • Identity theft prevention
  • Password security best practices
  • Social media privacy and protection
  • Home Wi-Fi and network security
  • Mobile device security
  • Small business cybersecurity strategies
  • Data backup and recovery planning
  • Emerging cyber threats and trends
  • Practical steps anyone can take to stay safer online

In addition to educational presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on cybersecurity challenges designed to make learning engaging and memorable. Activities will focus on identifying scams, building stronger passwords, protecting personal information, and improving digital security habits.

Lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be provided throughout the event thanks to the support of community sponsors and local businesses.

Organizers would like to recognize and thank the community sponsors and supporters who have helped make this event possible, including:

  • Mesa Top Adventure
  • Chefs For You
  • Subway
  • Starbucks
  • Domino’s

Additional sponsors and community partners may be announced as the event approaches.
