The 4th of July is right around the corner, and Los Alamos County is gearing up for the big event! The 4th of July Spectacular will be held 4-10 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th at Overlook Park in White Rock.
The day of entertainment begins at 4 p.m. with Syzygy, followed at 5 p.m. by Radio Blast.
Headliner Matchbox Twenty Too – A Matchbox Twenty Tribute band, will take the stage at 7 p.m. to bring the house down and get attendees dancing and singing to their favorite songs.
Beginning at 9 p.m., the 4th of July Spectacular will launch an extended drone show provided by Sky Elements, which will conclude the event at 9:30 p.m. – there will not be a fireworks display this year due to the Stage 2 Fire Restrictions.
The Los Alamos County Recreation Division is still looking for vendors of all varieties. Food vendors will be placed within the gravel parking area, parallel to the Dara Jones Soccer Field, and must provide their own power. Other vendors may be placed on the Dara Jones Soccer Field to have visibility and interaction with attendees. Vendors with tents must have them weighted down and not staked.
Important items to note for this year’s 4th of July Spectacular Event:
- The Main event location will be Dara Jones Soccer Field, (NOT Sprio Field);
- Only Handicapped Parking will be allowed within Overlook Park;
- Atomic City Transit Riders will have to walk from the normal bus pick-up/drop-off location at Spirio Field to Dara Jones Soccer Field;
- The entire northern Section of Overlook Park will be closed to the public; and
- Grills will not be allowed on Dara Jones Soccer Field.
As always, Atomic City Transit will be running 3-10:30 p.m. in support of this event.
Pick-up locations are Pinon Elementary School and the White Rock Visitor Center, in White Rock, and the Lemon Lot, in Los Alamos. Additionally, the Sullivan Field parking lot will be available for event attendees to park and take the shuttle. Paratransit services for certified and registered customers will also be provided. Please call the ACT administrative offices to schedule a ride at (505) 661-RIDE (7433). Also, please note that from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. all ACT buses will pause.
