Presentation On ‘Thinking Like A Watershed’ April 30 In Taos

Renewable Taos will feature Christoper Pieper, co-owner with his wife Elana Lombard of Mudd ‘n’ Flood Mountain Shop. He will speak at 7 p.m., April 30, about connecting several large issues facing the Taos area and beyond in a presentation titled, “Thinking Like a Watershed”.

Pieper was born and raised near Stanford University in California. He went on to study at UC Berkeley, where he earned a BS in conservation. After graduating, he was hired as a science teacher in Menlo Park, Calif. There, he met his wife and the two taught high school science and directed the outdoor program at the high school.

In 1997, they moved to Taos. Pieper taught at Taos High School and in 2001, he and his wife purchased Mudd ‘n’ Flood. They have two children, run a small farm, and love hiking. Pieper is also an acequia commissioner.

Over his almost three decades in Taos, Pieper has written or spoken on many topics related to the outdoors and to creating and maintaining community, writ large, in the complex world. These include Optimizing Diversity on Small Farms, Rethinking Forest Health, Living with Earth and many other topics.
