COMMUNITY News:
Dance enthusiasts and Kate Bush fans, this event is for you! The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever will be held at 10 a.m. April 1 at Ashley Pond Park.
The event is free and open to anyone. Participants are encouraged to wear red as in Bush’s video and to check out the dance steps on the website, https://sites.google.com/view/tmwhde-los-alamos/home
Marjorie Madsen is co-organizing the event with her daughter, Chloe Madsen Keilers, with permission from Wuthermuthers, Shambush, and global facilitator and organizer, Samantha Wareing. Madsen said the event pays homage to Bush’s 1978 song, “Wuthering Heights”, which is based on Emily Brontë’s classic novel.
Participants will practice choreography before PAC 8 begins filming the performance for Instagram, YouTube, and the event website.
“The idea for (The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever) originated with ‘Shambush’s The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience,’ presented at the 2013 Brighton Fringe, an alternative arts and music festival in the United Kingdom,” Madsen said. “It is now a global phenomenon, and there were at least a dozen locations in the U.S. that hosted this event, but until last year, none in New Mexico. This will be our second (time) hosting this event. The event itself doesn’t take that long, we do a walk-through of the steps, a trial run, then PAC 8 will film the ‘official’ version that we’ll post on our website, Instagram and Youtube.”
