BRIDGE News:
Ann-Marie Graves and Mary Courtright were Monday winners in flight A. Neill Goltz and Harry Dewey were high in Flight B.
On Wednesday, Steve Kemic and Jennifer Young were 1st in Flight A, while Bobby Haynes and Norm Worth were 1st in Flight B.
Here is another very competitive hand. Both sides should be in the auction. It pays to be bold, especially with the E/W hands.
Board 6 from the March 26 game: East is the dealer and E/W are vulnerable.

After East passes, South may well open 1♥. West will overcall 2♦, and North will raise to 2♥. East should now bid 2♠, which will end the auction unless North rebids 3♥, a good call not vulnerable against vulnerable opponents. With a great spade fit, West should raise to 3♠, which should end the auction. Note that N/S should be able to make 2♥, while E/W are likely to make 3♠. E/W must compete to 3♠, or they will score poorly on this board.
When this hand was played locally, one pair played in 4♠/E down 1, and another played in 2♠ /E making 4, two pairs played in 4♠/E down 1, and a 5th pair played in 2♦/W making 3.
The Los Alamos Duplicate Bridge Club games are held at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center (BESAC) at 12:45 p.m., Wednesdays, and at the White Rock Senior Activity Center (WRSAC) at 12:45 p.m., Mondays.

Hello, fellow “game enthusiast.“ Are you interested in a game that will test both your mental acuity and your communication skills as you and a partner enter the field of intellectual combat? Then perhaps you’ve seen the historical card game “Bridge“ mentioned in a book or seen it being played in an old black-and-white movie on the Orient Express or by Gloria Swanson in “Sunset Boulevard.” Bridge is not a game of the past, though, but is still played worldwide and by millions of Americans at least once a week, in venues ranging from competitive in-person tournaments with hundreds of players to casual play at home or on the internet.
Here in Los Alamos and White Rock, our local club is ready to bring you on board with nighttime, after work or weekend FREE lessons and playing opportunities with other newcomers, resumers and beginners.
We continue to meet regularly on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Mesa Top game store (next to Booomerang) on Central here in Los Alamos.
