NMSA’s Theatre Department Presents: All Night Diner– The NMSA One Acts Festival

NMSA News:

Join NMSA’s Theatre Department for All-Night Diner: The NMSA One Acts Festival running March 19-21 at NMSA’s Bluedio Theatre. The lights never go off at this 24-hour diner. Over the course of a single day and night, strangers cross paths, conversations collide, and lives quietly (and not so quietly) change.

All-Night Diner serves up a collection of original one-act plays written by Creative Writing students and brought to life by Theatre students—each story unfolding in the same diner, each revealing a different slice of humanity. From late-night confessions to early-morning reckonings, these plays capture the poetry, humor, and ache of ordinary moments that linger longer than a cup of coffee.

“This festival celebrates new work, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the power of student voices telling their own stories,” says NMSA Theatre Chair, Justin Gordon. “Bold, intimate, and inventive, the NMSA One Acts Festival offers a snapshot of young artists discovering how words on the page become living, breathing theatre.”

This theatre festival is a collaboration between the Creative Writing and Theatre Departments, showcasing a suite of original one-act plays penned by student playwrights and realized by theatre department student directors, actors, and technicians. Though each play stands on its own, they are united by a shared setting: a 24-hour diner where time blurs, relationships spark, and the smallest interactions can carry enormous weight.

Pull up a booth and stay awhile. Join us for an evening—or afternoon—of bold new voices, inventive storytelling, and collaborative artistry as NMSA students bring brand-new plays to life. Come hungry for stories, connection, and the electric energy of live theatre made right here.
