February is National Heart Health Awareness Month and Vitalant would like to bring much-needed awareness to the community about how important transfusions are to the critical aspect of managing cardiac surgery patients (link). An estimated 50% of cardiac surgery patients require a blood transfusion, and with this being the month of love, Vitalant is inviting the community to help.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Vitalant is offering a $15 gift card to February donors, redeemable through the donor rewards store (opt-in required). You must enter the promo code GIVELOVE-2026-V when you sign up to donate to receive this offer.

Here are several great opportunities to help this month:

• Saturday, Feb. 14, 2-6 p.m. at Los Alamos Teen Center; 
• Thursday, Feb. 19, 12-4 p.m. at Los Alamos Senior Center; and
• Saturday, Feb. 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Bloodmobile will be parked at Smith’s Marketplace.

Only 3% of those eligible donate blood and to encourage more people to get involved, Vitalant has developed a way for you to host a virtual blood drive of your own.
