LALOE News:
Los Alamos Lasses and Lads of Enchantment songster Joe D’Anna believes the best part of delivering singing valentines is, “the reaction of the receiver.”
D’Anna is one of three quartets that will be out to deliver the gift of song on Friday and Saturday to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. The groups will provide an opportunity to receive a very special and incredibly novel gift.
The LALOE is a small non-profit organization, and for them to raise money in a jovial way, for the chorus. It might even garner some new devotees at their annual concerts each Fall. The funds raised from the gift-giving venture are used to purchase new music for the club annually.
Lisa Rothrock, a 2025 Barbershopper of the year for the LALOE will join Odd Man Out (OMO) as they venture on their first Valentine’s Day event. Rothrock sings with “Note-able Whimsy,” (NM) but on Valentine’s Day it’s an all-hands-on deck event. She sheds light on what it was like in 2024 when NW helped to deliver their vocal valentines.
“I still remember the very first time our quartet sang for Valentine’s Day. We sang for such a sweet, beautiful lady at Smith’s, and she started crying, she was so happy,” Rothrock said. “A couple of us started crying with her, so we had to stop singing, dry our eyes, and start over. So completely unexpected, but so memorable!”
Matt Michnovicz sings bass for (OMO) with Rothrock and loves the distinctive touch a singing valentine can bring to mark the occasion. “It’s like singing directly to your sweetheart. Although the quartet has four voices, each voice is unique, and that’s what makes it so personal.”
David Daniel, Dick Heaton, Bernadette Lauritzen, Ron Nelson, Denise Pelowitz, and Mark Willmon help to round out the various quartets available to sing. Board Member Chuck Tallman is at the ready for you to schedule your valentine to be delivered and a variety of time slots are still available.
