Pig & Fig Cafe And Sister Restaurants Match $5,000 In Community Donations To LA Cares Food Bank

COMMUNITY News:

The team behind Pig & Fig, Beef & Leaf, and Sugar & Cream Cafes, together with New Mexico Junior Foodies, is excited to share an update on their ongoing fundraising effort for LA Cares, the local food bank serving Los Alamos County.

What began earlier this month in response to government furloughs, layoffs, and reduced access to food benefits has grown into a true community effort. Over the past month, local residents contributed $5,000 in grocery gift cards and monetary donations in an amazing show of generosity and support. In return, the restaurants matched those contributions dollar-for-dollar, bringing the total donation to LA Cares to $10,000 last week.

“Food has always been our love language,” said executive owner and chef Laura Crucet. “When our community faces hardship, we want to do what we do best: feed people and support our neighbors. The response so far has been incredible, and we’re so grateful for everyone who contributed.”

All funds support LA Cares, a 100% volunteer-run organization providing food and financial assistance to individuals and families in need across the county.

The restaurants will continue collecting gift cards and donations through the end of the year, and the team encourages anyone able to give to keep the momentum going. They are encouraging new contributions to be made directly to LA Cares: https://www.lacaresnm.org/

This initiative reflects the continued commitment of Pig & Fig, Beef & Leaf, and Sugar & Cream Cafes to serve as a positive community force in Los Alamos, through good food and good works and with the help of the community that makes it all possible.
