The Truchas Chapter of Trout Unlimited would like to announce the availability of its 2026 Truchas Scholarship. The Truchas Scholarship was created to recognize and support students in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and will be expanded this year to eligible 2025-26 seniors in public high schools in Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Espanola. Applications will be available starting Dec. 1 on its website (truchastu.org) and are due by March 15, 2026.
The 2024 Truchas Scholarship winner, Fabian Larranga of Monte del Sol School, went on to study solar energy generation at NM Institute of Mining and Technology. The 2025 Truchas Scholarship winner, Erin Lucio of Capital High School, is studying Nursing at UNM.
Since its founding as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1959, Trout Unlimited has had a mission to protect and restore cold water fisheries in North America and has over 300,000 members and over 400 local chapters.
