By LINDA CAROL ALTThe Valle Grande Chapter, NSDAR, held its first Genealogy Workshop Saturday Oct. 11 at the SALA Community Center.
Every year the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, celebrates its birthday, Oct. 11, by offering a day of community service.
Guest speakers at the Genealogy Workshop included Roberta Day Idzorek, Valle Grande Chapter Secretary, Ron Smith of Los Alamos, Henrietta Martinez Christmas, and Eileen Rhine.
They covered basic genealogy, online resources, using the census records, and DNA use in Genealogy.

Martinez Christmas is a published author of numerous articles and books on the Spanish Colonial History in New Mexico.
In 2021, she was awarded the Encomienda de la Orden de Isabela Católica Award by King Felipe of Spain for her accomplished research and history of Spanish Colonial New Mexico.

Rhine holds a Certificate in Genealogy from Boston University and has completed several other genealogical education courses.
She currently serves as president of the Santa Fe County Genealogical Society.
