LAPS Foundation News:

The Friends of the Los Alamos County Libraries, in partnership with the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, have awarded the 2024 June and Harry Ettinger Memorial Scholarship to Maya Carpenter for her review of the book Wild Bird, by Wendelin Van Draanen.

The scholarship was created to honor those who love books. Graduating seniors who apply are asked to write a personal narrative concerning an age-appropriate book that was not required for school and that has not been translated into a visual medium. The narrative must demonstrate in what ways the book added to the student’s understanding of the human condition or enhanced their life.

Maya is the daughter of Brittany and John Carpenter. She will be attending Utah State University where she plans to study kinesiology.

Funds for the June and Harry Ettinger Memorial Scholarship are managed by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization which serves as the connection between our community and school district, evaluating needs and investing resources to improve the quality of public education in our community.
