YMCA News:
More than 150 community members and officials from Los Alamos, Española and Taos gathered April 22 at La Fonda in Santa Fe time raising more than $100,000 to support the growing needs of individuals and families served in Northern New Mexico.
The Los Alamos Big Band played and attendees had a delightful evening while raising money for the YMCA’s Scholarship fund, YMCA CEO Chris Daniels said.
“This annual event started more than 20 years ago and has continued to grow in its’ success,” Daniels said. “It is truly inspiring to see so many people come together and support the programs that support children, youth and families of our communities.”
Funds raised at the Gala are part of The Family YMCA’s annual campaign goal of $175,000 that supports both the Española and Los Alamos teen centers, as well as the Y’s financial aid program.
Offering scholarships to the After-School and Sports programs, Membership, Camps and continued operational needs, the Y typically provides scholarships for more than 300 individuals, most of whom are children and youth.
