2023-2024 Course Selection At LAMS & LAHS Begins Feb. 6

Course Selection for the 2023-2024 school year is fast approaching for students who will be attending Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School in the fall.

Current 6th and 7th grade students:

Current 6th grade students will visit Los Alamos Middle School on Monday, Feb. 6. That same day, students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend the Hawk Sampler 5:30-7 p.m. Attendees should meet at 5:30 p.m. in the LAMS gymnasium.

Current 6th and 7th grade students will be able to access Electives Course Selection following the Hawk Sampler.

LAMS also will host a Special Education meeting for parents/guardians 5-5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 in the LAMS Cafeteria.

Classes will not be in session at Los Alamos Middle School on Monday, Feb. 6. Classes will resume Tuesday, Feb. 7. Students will follow a 7-period day schedule.

Current 8th, 9th,10th and 11th grade students:

Course selection at the high school opened last Friday. Students can access course selection through their Powerschool accounts. 

Course selection appointments with advisors for 8th graders and their parents/guardians will be Monday, Feb. 6. Appointments with advisors for current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students and their parents/guardians are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 6 and Tuesday, Feb. 7. Appointment times have been sent via email; however, if you have not yet received an email from your student’s advisor, please contact Ronda Trujillo at r.trujillo@laschools.net or Stephanie Fabry at s.fabry@laschools.net.

Classes will not be in session Monday, Feb. 6 and Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Los Alamos High School. Classes will resume Wednesday, Feb. 8. Students will follow an “A” Day schedule.

The Los Alamos High School Counseling Department is hosting several events to assist high school students and parents/guardians in the course selection process. Question and Answer Sessions for parents of upcoming 9th graders are scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31 and Wednesday, Feb. 1, 12-1 p.m.. Both sessions will take place in the Topper Library Classroom. 

In addition, the counseling staff will hold a Course Selection Workshop 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4  in the Topper Library.
