2021 New Mexico Music Awards Call For Entries

NMMA News:

The New Mexico Music Awards (NMMA) has announced a call for entries for the 34th annual awards program. The entry deadline is Feb. 8, 2021.

Music produced in New Mexico during the 2020 calendar year is eligible for this year’s program. An awards banquet and show is held every May to present the awards while allowing songwriters, musicians, audio engineers, producers, managers, recording studio owners and other recording industry to network with one another.

The awards program provides education and encouragement to those working within the New Mexico music industry.

Beginning in 1987, recording industry professionals including songwriters, recording engineers, working musicians and producers set out to achieve cooperation rather than competition among recording studios and other industry professionals in order to create a climate of professionalism and artistic excellence within the New Mexico music community.

The brainchild of recording engineer Eric Larson and producer Tom “Mitch” Mitchell and conversations with other industry pros led to the formation of the New Mexico Music Industry Coalition (NM MIC), later the NMMA. With successive years, the program expanded to include educational workshops that included entertainment law, copyright and songwriter’s workshops.

In 2005, the NMMA established the Eric Larson Endowment at the University of New Mexico in memory of Eric Larson who passed away in 2005. The endowment assists junior or senior UNM students who have declared music or the recorded arts as their major.

The NMMA works tirelessly to promote New Mexico artists and their music to a global audience.
