2020 Holiday Prism Concert On YouTube 2 P.M. Saturday

COMMUNITY News:

Los Alamos Community Winds (LACW) presents its annual Holiday Prism Concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert will be performed on YouTube.

The concert includes a series of performances by members from the community:

  • The Los Alamos Flute Choir;
  • The Covid Clarinets;
  • The SaxAtomix; and
  • The LACW Brass.

The concert also includes individual solo performances:

  • Flautists Heidi Morning and Tracey Speyrer; and
  • LACW director/trombonist Ted Vives all accompanied by pianist Julian Chen.

All viewers also will have an opportunity to donate to the Los Alamos Community Winds via a link to the LACW home page https:////www.lacw.org in the event description on the YouTube site. 

The Los Alamos Community Winds have also released a new CD of performances created this past summer. The CD is entitled “The Social Distancing Sessions – Summer 2020 (Music Recorded in a Safe Environment)” and contains 53 minutes of newly recorded and previously unreleased tracks. This CD can be purchased through the LACW website as well.

All donations to the 2020 Holiday Prism Concert (including proceeds from the sale of this CD) will go to funding the 2022 National Convention of the Association of Concert Bands. The Los Alamos Community Winds are teaming up with the Santa Fe Concert Band and the Albuquerque Concert Band to host this event. The Association of Concert Bands is the umbrella organization that governs community bands and ensembles across the United States and abroad. LACW is honored to have been selected to host this prestigious event. LACW is a 501 (c) 3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.
