The 73rd Los Alamos City Championship was held June 27 and 28.

Introduced for the first time in a Los Alamos competition was the World Golf Scoring System. The system factored in slope and course rating with handicaps to yield a World Golf handicap for all players.

There was a lot of exciting play for the two days. Scoring was very tight among the participants. Following the completion of the event the Los Alamos City Championship shootout took place.

The shoot-out takes the winners of each flight and allows them to play nine holes with handicap to determine the ultimate “Champion of Champions”.

Following the completion of each hole at least one competitor was eliminated based upon play.

Before the shootout started a chip off had to break a tie to determine the first place net champion for the Super-Senior Flight.  But this was not the last of the tie breakers. Throughout the shootout and at each hole chip offs were monitored by Golf Course Manager Mike Lippiatt, LAGA President Jamie Aslin and LAGA Board Member Patrick Metzger.

Championship Flight winners were eventually whittled down to 2 on hole 8 and Mike Finney and Paul Cook battelled it out on hole 9.
