COUNTY News:

For the upcoming County Bond Election, 13,484 ballots were mailed May 2 to registered voters to the address on file with the County Clerk. To date, the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office has received 4,050 returned ballot envelopes, 423 undeliverable ballots and one unsigned ballot.

Of the 423 undeliverable ballots, there were 23, which provided a forwarding address within Los Alamos County. Those 23 registrants were sent a special notice to update their voter record and are requested to personally walk into the office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day in order for the Clerk’s Office to issue a replacement ballot.

In addition, there were 63 undeliverable ballots with an address outside Los Alamos County, those registrants will receive a notice indicating that if they no longer live in Los Alamos County to complete the state prescribed form to cancel their registration in Los Alamos.

The remaining undeliverable envelopes have no forwarding address on file with the United States Postal Service, and will remain on the voter rolls until:

1. The registrant contacts the Clerk’s Office directly for a voter cancellation form;

2. Re-registers in another jurisdiction; or

3. Removed via the purge process in accordance with state law.

There is plenty of time to submit your ballot. Hand deliver or mail in your ballot (first class stamp required), to the County Clerk’s Office, 1000 Central Ave. Ballots must be physically received by 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 in order to be counted.

Anyone who has not received a ballot should call the Clerk’s Office at 505.662.8010 or email clerks@lacnm.us.
