Week Of Cinematic Brilliance & Cultural Enrichment At SALA

SALA News:

Get ready for an unforgettable week of captivating films and enriching cultural experiences at the SALA Los Alamos Event Center. From April 29 to May 5, SALA presents a diverse lineup of events as part of the Los Alamos Film and Culture Festival.

The festival kicks off on Monday, April 29, with the premiere of “Global Harmony”, a documentary following the journey of journalist Richard Foster as he advocates for equality, justice, and global unification. However, as Foster and his team prepare for a massive global conference, a crime ring is planning to thwart their plans.

Tuesday, April 30, join us for Coderdojo at 4:30 p.m., followed by “The Nita & Zita Project” at 5:30 p.m. The film tells the story of legendary 1920s New Orleans dancers, two Jewish sisters and glittering globetrotters who fled antisemitism in Hungary in 1922 to blaze their own trail as contortionist acrobatic performers.

Wednesday, May 1, brings “The Martini Shot” at 5:30 p.m., a postmodern existential drama following Steve, an ailing movie director, as he begins to shoot what he believes to be his final work of art.

Thursday, May 2, is your last chance to catch “Civil War” at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., followed by “American Underdog” at 5:30 p.m., delving into the journey of an Indian-American immigrant and former amateur MMA fighter seeking redemption and transformation.

Friday, May 3, features “The Last Bumblebee” at 5:30 p.m., a film diving deep into the journey of finding Franklin’s Bumblebee and offering solutions to help these important pollinators thrive. Additionally, don’t miss “The Brief History of Time” at SALA at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse before the premiere, delving into the cosmic frontiers with a special welcome from Gordon Freedman. “The Fall Guy” will also be shown, with showtimes at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Saturday, May 4, brings a day of shorts starting at 10:30 a.m. Join us at 2:30 p.m. for “Till Love Do Us Part”, and at 5:30 p.m. for “It Isn’t JUST Politics”, a bipartisan discussion of how to solve the great divide between Americans.

On Sunday, May 5, don’t miss “Sisters of Ukraine” at 11:30 a.m., followed by “Mother” at 2:30 p.m., inspired by a true story of a Bulgarian theatre director reinventing the word “mother”.
