WILLIAM (BILL) BRADLEY WILSON Aug. 21, 1942 – March 2, 2024

William (Bill) Bradley Wilson passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 81 on March 2, 2024 at Bear Canyon Hospice in Albuquerque due to complications attributed to dementia.

Bill was born in Houston, Texas on August 21, 1942 to his late parents Cecil and Erline Wilson and his sister Shirley who was able to fly from San Antonio to visit Bill in hospice shortly after her 91st birthday.

As a child he loved to ride his horse, Thunder and hop trains that passed close to his backyard. He would jump off and walk home – luckily a neighbor reported this to his mother who put a stop to his fun!

In 1964 Bill enrolled at Texas A&M in College Station where he was a member of the Core of Cadets and along with taking classes, he worked at the Cyclatron with his fellow Nuclear Engineering students.

While working on his PhD, he was hired by Los Alamos National Laboratory where in 1975 he not only completed and presented his dissertation, he met and married the love of his life, Betty Belford Wilson. Two of his most major accomplishments!

His work was like a hobby to him. He enjoyed his work at the office and at home once home computers became available.

During his employment at the lab, he and fellow workers wrote many codes which are still in use today!

While working at the lab, he was able to travel to Paris, Toronto, and Japan to give talks and learn from other labs with fellow Nuclear Engineers.

Bills other hobby was supporting Betty in the many plays she loved to be in. Their favorite was the local melodrama that opened on New Years Eve. Betty loved acting and singing in over 30 of the local melodramas!

Bill never met a stranger and showed this by his kindness and patience to the people he encountered.

He loved BB shop and was very instrumental in forming the local New Mex Chords and singing in his quartet, Jemez Jarmony! Before the local group, he would drive to ABQ on Monday nights to sing in the Albuquerque chorus, the New Mexichords.

Bill leaves behind his wife Betty, his son Alan (Misty) and our daughter Doris. Alan’s children are Keeley, Alexa, and John. Keeley will soon give birth to our Great Grandson Zayden Bradley Wilson.

Bills memorial will be at 2:00 pm on Sat, May 11 at The United Church of Los Alamos, 2525 Canyon Rd Los Alamos, NM 87544.

In lieu of flowers, we would like any contribution to the Lassies and Lads of Enchantment through the church office.
