Los Alamos High School’s Dr. Michela Ombelli Honored As 2024 Regeneron Science Talent Search Teacher Of Merit

Los Alamos High School (LAHS) Science Teacher Dr. Michela Ombelli has been awarded a 2024 Teacher of Merit Certificate by the Regeneron Science Talent Search.

The Regeneron STS is an 83-year-old science research competition which “highlights the importance of science and engineering and the spirit of inquiry that is so critical to our nation’s future.”

“I am honored to receive this recognition,” Dr. Ombelii said. “LAHS is among the 196 high schools across the nation who produced a Regeneron STS scholar this year.”

Senior Daniel Kim was among the top 300 scholars in the 2024 Regeneron STS for his project, “Engineered Underwater Vehicle for Ocean Litter Mapping”.

Dr. Ombelli started at Los Alamos Public Schools as a substitute in 2016. She has been teaching at LAHS since 2018, and is currently teaching AP Chemistry, Honors Chemistry and Chemistry.
