As a husband and wife broker team, Mike and Jess Griego of Zia RealtyGroup like to say they are able to provide twice the amount of effort and work at once.

The Griegos have worked for Zia Realty for a year. “I always wanted to become a realtor … but it just wasn’t feasible,” Jess said. Mike added he previously worked in the banking and mortgage industry.

Working at Zia Realty allowed them to join forces and combine their strengths together. “We like working together. He’s a people person … he’s really smart; he knows what he is talking about,” Jess said. “I always loved the idea of real estate. I love finding people their homes. It’s a rewarding career to get people into the homes they love.”

Mike’s background in banking and mortgages gives the Griegos a better advantage to help their clients.

“We want our clients to feel comfortable. We want to put ourselves in their shoes,” Jess said.

While Jess and Mike want to make themselves a good fit for their clients, they emphasize that Zia Realty Group is a good fit for them.

“It’s a very family oriented atmosphere,” Mike said. It’s a place the Griego’s two children, Ethan, 4, and Emma, 3, enjoy being at. “They love coming to work with Dad,” Jess said.

Mike joked that his son seems to be after his job. He recalled driving his son to a house to show to a client and when they pulled up to the property, his son said to him, “Mom and I already sold this house.”

Besides being family-oriented, Mike and Jess appreciate that Zia Realty is not cutthroat and that it is a locally-owned company. James Chrobocinski owns Zia Realty Group.

The Griegos have lived in Los Alamos for six years. They moved from Rio Rancho. Jess said they appreciate the fact that Los Alamos is a small town and that it is a safe place for children.

Mike added that Los Alamos is a diverse community and they are able to meet people from all over the world.

“We have fun,” he said.

Jess said although the real estate market is slower right now than it was in the summer, the market has gone up significantly and it is a great time to sell a house.
