COMMUNITY News:

The Bob and Denise Grace home at 1150 Los Pueblos awoke recently to a flock of happy flamingos in their front yard and a sign proclaiming, “You’ve Been Flocked! Thank you for making our community more beautiful!”

The work was that of Paula Barclay and Teddie Sue Mooday, realtors with RE/MAX of Los Alamos.

“It’s part of an ad hoc ‘community beautification recognition’ program,” Barclay said. “Teddie Sue and I decided we wanted to recognize the hard work and efforts that residents around town are putting into the making their homes and our community a more attractive place to live.”

Mooday said that as well as adorning the resident’s yard with the flamingos, the two are giving the resident a gift card to a local home improvement store. “This isn’t some big corporate endeavor,” Mooday said. “We’re just two local homeowners who want to say ‘thank you’ to other residents for helping make our community a more attractive place to live. We know it takes money to do home improvements so the gift card is our way to give some of that back.”

Barclay and Mooday say the flock of flamingos will stay in the Grace’s yard for about a week and then will be looking for a new home. If you or someone you know have made home and yard improvements that deserve recognition, the two encourage you to give them a call at 505.231.8705.

“We’d like to see our flock of flamingos showing up all over town!” Barclay said.
