LACDC News:
Youth interested in starting a summer business this year have set a record for the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation’s annual Youth Business Grant Program (YBGP.)
This year, 25 youth have submitted applications to the program, including 14 applicants from Los Alamos, nine from Espanola and two from Pojoaque.
The YBGP provides grants of up to $400 to youth, ages 13-19, who want to experience the rewards of starting a summer business.
The program has provided more than 240 young entrepreneurs with grants since 1985.
Past participants report learning valuable lessons that have helped them in their future endeavors.
Over the years, several recipients have continued to operate and grow their businesses into longterm careers.
Craig Wehner founded Los Alamos Landscaping and More with the help of the YBGP. Read his story at http://issuu.com/lacdc/docs/april_may_2012_essence_/14.
