Together, in a single day, we raised $4,800 toward helping 2,500 youth served at our teen centers in Española and Los Alamos, and 300 people at our YMCA.
This is a great success!
We are grateful for the loving, caring spirit that moved our donors now and all year. At 7 p.m., Tuesday night, our #GivingTuesday total sat at $2,300, given by 36 friends, and then I got an email pledge from one more individual that took us to $4,800. WOW.
So today is Grateful Thursday! People support many deserving organizations as they are able, and this is why we gratefully and humbly thank you for championing our mission during this exciting campaign. Thank you. And more good news is that with this total raised Tuesday, we have now met our annual goal to raise $165,000 for this year’s scholarships and teen center needs, very good news. This has ensured that all may be welcome at the Y, like our after school photograph above shows.
Below are four short stories and thanks from those impacted at our Y, shared so that you may see how donations help.
“This assistance has allowed me to be able to get some physical activity and some social activity while I have been here taking care of my mother. It has been a blessing for that. Thank you for the opportunity to have a place to go.” Anonymous member, The Family YMCA
“This is a welcoming friendly atmosphere where I can express myself. I enjoy playing musical instruments, painting, and photography.” – Los Alamos Teen Center Member
“Thank you for my membership. It has helped me get my strength back after a head injury. Spin has taught me to push myself and set goals. Weight training has helped with my self-confidence and weight loss. I am truly grateful. Thank you for changing my life and helping me to take better care of myself.” Anonymous, member, The Family YMCA
“The Teen Center is the best place for kids to make good choices. Mr. Ben, Ms. Renee and the staff are my family. They have taught me so much. I have so many memories here. The Teen Center has taught me to be a man, and I love this place.” – Christian Cordova, Española YMCA Teen Center Member
