Los Alamos Photography Club News:
The Los Alamos Photography Club is continuing its public-workshop series taught by professional photographers. This year’s workshop is on Night Photography with Mike Shaw on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Dr. Mike Shaw is an internationally recognized astrophotographer, night photography teacher, and author of Creative Nightscapes and Time-Lapses (2018) and The Complete Guide to Landscape Astrophotography (2017). His third book, The Beginner’s Guide to Astrophotography, and a new set of night photography articles for the Adobe Lightroom Academy will be published in 2023. He is a delegate to the International Dark Sky Association. He has taught in the Bryan Peterson School of Photography for five years and at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum for four years.
Shaw’s enthusiasm stemmed from an entire magazine section explaining how to capture images of the night sky with a regular camera. He felt like he had been hit by lightning! He instantly realized that he could start taking pictures of space with the gear he already had. Years later, he started Mike Shaw Photography and realized that his passion and mission are to help you create incredible images of the night sky, ones you’ll want to share.
