COUNTY News:
Work gets underway this week for improvements to Ashley Pond Park. The site will be marked for underground utilities, irrigation heads will be relocated, two trees will be transplanted and the contractor’s site construction fencing will be installed.
The emptying of the pond will begin by pumping the water out of the pond for irrigation of the surrounding park area. Any standing water remaining in the bottom of the pond will be pumped onto nearby turf areas using pumps provided by the County.
The County will meet with the selected contractor, RMCI, this week for a pre-construction meeting, and then issue the contractor the formal Notice to Proceed. Construction should be completed by Nov. 4, 2013.
During construction, citizens at the park are asked to stay clear of the fenced work zone. Summer concerts will still take place at the park, using the concrete apron and large lawn (which was the site of the former Municipal Building) on the west side of the park.
