White Rock Presbyterian Church News:
White Rock Presbyterian Church will be hosting a table along with Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church of Los Alamos at the Los Alamos LGBTQ+ Pride Festival 4-7 p.m. today, June 17, on the lawn in Central Park Square.
WRPC recently completed a nearly-year-long journey toward deeper understanding of Christ’s call to inclusivity, with specific consideration given to LGBTQIA+ persons, and in April formally adopted this statement:
“Convinced that God loves and cherishes each person just the way they are and delighted by the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s celebration of the gifts of all people, White Rock Presbyterian Church publicly affirms LGBTQIA+ persons. Each person’s full participation is encouraged as together we explore life as a community of faith: worshiping God, seeking to become our full selves, living in community, and engaging with the world to further God’s healing, justice, abundance, and love. God’s Table is prepared; the feast isn’t complete without you.”
According to Deb Worley, pastor of WRPC, “Becoming a faith community that is unhesitatingly welcoming and publicly affirming of LGBTQIA+ persons is true to our shared understanding of the Good News of Jesus Christ and of the belovedness of each person, exactly as God made them.” She adds, “If you find yourself at the Pride Festival this evening, come find our table and say hello! We look forward to greeting you!”
