Los Alamos Police have charged Andrew Ortega with aggravated assault and battery after responding to a call of a possible domestic dispute at a residence in White Rock this morning.
Hand-cuffed and placed in the back of a police patrol car, Ortega, 40, began to thrash about while being transported from White Rock to the Los Alamos Detention Center.
“He was kicking the doors and seats and banging his head against the interior of the police car,” Capt. Randy Foster said. “Because of his behavior, we requested Los Alamos Fire Department medical personnel check him for injuries.”
Ortega was then transported to the emergency room at Los Alamos Medical Center.
By mid-afternoon, ER cleared Ortega for release, Foster said, and he is now in jail awaiting a court hearing.
