BUSINESS News:
A work party pitched in over the weekend to help owner Anna Dillane prepare her new shop, Boomerang, on Central Avenue at Knecht Street in Los Alamos for its Dec. 1 opening.
Dillane started Boomerang in Espanola 12 years ago and has lived in Los Alamos for nine years. Her love for the local community was evident as friends streamed in this weekend eager to help her ready her new shop. The work party consisted of many members of the Los Alamos Meet Up group, which Dillane has hosted the last 1.5 years. The group included Steve Whittemore, Albert Hsu, Kimberly Selvage, John Lynch, Marilyn Johns, Tim Shroyer, Sue York, Clint Chevalier, Beverly Neal Clinton and Xavier Clinton.
“It was a huge success,” Dillane said of all that was accomplished by the group.
She describes her new business saying “Boomerang is different in many ways. At Boomerang, you can bring in all those items you no longer use and get credit toward gently used items you want.”
Dillane explained that at Boomerang there is a free pile for items that aren’t saleable for whatever reason.
“We try very hard not to throw anything away,” she said. “We also offer consignment on certain items. Boomerang is clean and organized with more than 2,000-square-feet of very high quality, gently used items. We will have a play area for children to enjoy, clothing for every member of the family, a great used book selection, furniture and housewares. We are so grateful to everyone who has donated their time and pledged to the Crowdfund to help fund this expansion. The outpouring of support for Boomerang has been amazing!”
