DPU News:
Over the next two weeks, motorists may notice Department of Public Utility Water Production crews at work on the water system transmission line near Tsankawi Park at the intersection of N.M. 4 and East Jemez Road.
Crews will be installing a new water system point of entrance meter, new chlorine injection equipment and a vault to house the equipment. Water from two wells merge at this point into the main line feeding White Rock. The point of entrance meter is the site that is used for recording measurements for monthly reporting to the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer. The chlorine injection port is the point where disinfectant is added to the water.
DPU is expediting this project as water demand will soon increase when the weather warms and spring gardening activities resume.
While the work proceeds, DPU’s Water Production Division will be feeding water to White Rock from different sources. Motorists are requested to use caution in this area, especially during commute periods, as construction crews and their vehicles will be entering and leaving the site.
