Throughout September, the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office will host a Voter Registration Agent Training and Voter Registration drives to help raise awareness about the upcoming election.
The County Clerk’s Office will conduct a Voter Registration Agent Training 3:30 p.m.to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the Council Chambers for those wishing to solicit and provide assistance to another person in the completion of a Voter Registration Form. Once trained, Voter Registration Agents will complete and sign a sworn statement outlining the duties and responsibilities of a Voter Registration Agent.
“Our goal is to encourage eligible voters to register and make sure their registration information is up-to-date before deadlines pass,” County Clerk Sharon Stover said. “If you’re not sure that your voter record is accurate, or if you don’t know how or where to register to vote, there is time before the Oct. 11 voter registration deadline.”
In addition, Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Los Alamos County Council issued a Proclamation in commemoration of National Voter Registration Day, declaring the month of September as “Voter Registration Month, and further declaring Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 as “Voter Registration Day” in Los Alamos County.
