COUNTY News:

Volunteers are needed to help repair trail damage from last week’s storms in Water Canyon on the Santa Fe National Forest.

Volunteers will meet at the Water Canyon Trailhead on West Jemez Road at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Monday Sept. 23. Tasks are moving debris off the trail and re-establishing the trail where it has been washed out. Work will end by 7:30 PM.

Tools and hard hats will be provided. Volunteers should wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts and sturdy shoes. Bring work gloves and water.

Hours donated by volunteers will be applied to an agreement with the Southwest Nordic Ski Club to match funds for additional trail work by contract crews.

The Water Canyon Trailhead is located on West Jemez Road (N.M. 501) 2.4 miles south of the intersection with Camp May Road. Park in the wide gravel area just beyond the guardrail.
