Volunteer On The Winsor Trail On National Trails Day

SFNF News:

SANTA FE ― Celebrate National Trails Day June 6 by helping the Santa Fe National Forest reroute a section of the popular Winsor Trail.

Always the first Saturday in June, National Trails Day is the American Hiking Society’s annual event to encourage Americans to enjoy the outdoors by highlighting trails and activities in all 50 states.

Organizers of the Winsor Trail project are looking for volunteers 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Saturday, June 6. The group will meet at the Norski Trailhead off Hyde Park Road at 9 a.m. and hike to the work area.

Volunteers should wear long sleeves, long pants, above-ankle non-skid boots and leather gloves to protect them from terrain that can be thorny and rocky. They should bring a backpack with lunch and at least two quarts of water. Tools and hard hats will be provided by the Santa Fe National Forest.

For additional information, please contact Jennifer Sublett, Española District Volunteer Coordinator, at jasublett@fs.fed.us or 505.753.7331. Volunteers should RSVP to Jennifer so the Forest can provide tools and hardhats for all participants.
