John L. House
John L. House, vice president of New Mexicans for Money Out of Politics, will speak at 6:30 p.m. today at the Unitarian Church during the monthly Voices of Los Alamos meeting.
New Mexicans for Money Out of Politics (NM MOP) is a non-partisan, grassroots organization whose mission is to remove the corrupting influence of money in politics and make government work for all the people of New Mexico and our country.
House will talk about New Mexicans with Money Out of Politics and American Promise, the national organization with whom Voices of Los Alamos partner working on a “28th Amendment” to the U.S. Constitution to reverse disastrous U.S. Supreme Court decisions like Buckley v. Valeo (1976) and Citizens United v. FEC (1976) to restore the authority of federal, state and local governments to regulate campaign finance that these cases gutted.
He will discuss the bill that will be introduced in the NM legislature by Rep. Mimi Stewart and other likely upcoming relevant federal and state legislation.
House is a former Professor of Comparative Literature and subsequently an attorney who practiced law in Texas and California. He now lives in Santa Fe. He is Vice President and a director of the board of New Mexicans for Money Out of Politics and is an American Promise Citizen Leader in Santa Fe.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
