VILLAGE ARTS News:

There is always something in store at Village Arts, and now is even more exciting than most days! Along with custom framing, art supplies, and the creative gifts that the shop continually stocks, Village Arts is hosting a new show on its walls featuring the works of 13 local artists and crafters.

The exhibit is entitled “COVID Crafters” and has work in media as diverse as paintings, diamond dots, quilting, and handcrafted dream catchers.

Village Arts put out a “Call For Artists” online and at the store to collect artwork done during COVID – several of which the staff had seen when the paintings were only a canvas and a glimmer in the artist’s eyes, others are by artists new to the community and to Village Arts.

Many of the pieces are for sale, and all proceeds beyond taxes return to the artists.

“COVID has really killed my creative drive and it has been so gratifying to see how inspired many people have been to create art and to really delve into something new,” Village Arts owner Ken Nebel said. “I’m not sure how I would have gone through this time without seeing our customers really take off in fun ways!”

Village Arts makes it a habit to support local artists in whatever way they can and today hosted jeweler Teresa Starr. She goes to the shop monthly and fills a corner of the shop with her treasures. Starr also purchases precious metals and jewelry and takes in repairs.

Village Arts at 216 DP Road is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and by appointment.

As a courtesy for unvaccinated guests, Village Arts is continuing to request that everyone wear a mask while in the store and continues to offer delivery and pick up options.
