Video Tribute To Retired LAFD Firefighter Mark Sandoval

Video tribute of Los Alamos Firefighters and Police Officers honoring retired firefighter Mark Secundino Sandoval (July 26, 1961 – March 19, 2023) this afternoon in a special procession from the Elks Lodge on Trinity Drive to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Canyon Road for a Funeral Mass followed by reception in the parish hall. The only child of Secundino and Stella Sandoval, he was born in Los Alamos and was a lifelong member of the community. He graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1979, where he fell in love with golf and found friendships that lasted a lifetime. Ninety-two golfers recently turned out to honor Sandoval with a tribute tournament at Los Alamos County Golf Course. Sandoval was a very active member of the Elks Lodge of Los Alamos and a Past Exalted Ruler.  Sandoval joined the Fire Academy in 1991, which led to his 21 year career taking care of the Los Alamos community. He worked 24/7 through both the Cerro Grande and Las Conchas fires, leading and working with his crew of firemen. While the fires were certainly challenging, telling friends, neighbors and the community about their personal losses took the biggest toll on him. He retired with the rank of Assistant Chief in December 2011. Created by Nate Limback/ladailypost.com
